Our Story…

Our story…

In mid-2015 our founder Justin’s friends Jon Weiner and Stuart Mackenzie decided to open a bar in the neighborhood of Northside in Cincinnati called the Northside Yacht Club, though a lot of care went into opening the place they felt it needed entertainment to draw people in and, knowing Justin’s history with loving to play trivia and also his abilities of talking into a microphone as a stand-up comic, they asked him to start up his own trivia night. That is when The Approximate Knowledge Institute of Cincinnati was born. Our mission is simple: We like to offer trivia that people like, working in this industry for a few years we have recognized trends that aren’t good and tightened down on the ones that are, we get compliments all the time that people like us but do not really enjoy our major rivals. Even people who hate trivia always qualify it by saying “but I really like yours”. We’ve grown from a small Tuesday offering to a multi-night, multi-platform company and even during the COVID-19 crisis we have switched to offering online play with exciting graphics and fast paced play, once we are allowed to return to in person games again we even plan to offer a touchless option that is sure to keep everyone safely engaged. We are happily offering trivia services and games to any bars in the area, our award winning trivia night is great for serving any clientele and we can tailor games to any establishment to suit the needs of owner and customer alike. We have worked with Northside Yacht Club, Queen City Radio, Ché, Westside Bar, Second Place, Rosie’s Cocktails and Pies and many many private organizations. We are always on the lookout for more opportunity so if you’d like a fun, well written trivia night for your bar, restaurant, boat dock, what have you, please email us for all info!
